Welcoming Amanda to the Team!

The Benoit Lab is thrilled to welcome Amanda J (she/her) to the WHiSE 2.0 team as a research assistant. Amanda has a rich educational background, having obtained a Social Service Worker Diploma from Sault College and an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Algoma University. In addition to her work with the WHiSE 2.0 study, she is a dedicated Harm Reduction Support Worker.


Amanda was born as a first-generation Canadian to immigrant parents from Lebanon, and she currently resides on the stolen traditional lands of the Anishinaabe in Bawating (Sault Ste. Marie). Amanda has an extensive educational and grassroots background in harm reduction, food security, sex workers’ rights, anti-racism, advocacy and activism. Amanda comes to the Benoit research team with rich lived/living experience(s) and a passion for social justice!


Amanda believes in giving a voice to the most oppressed and vulnerable communities and empowering people through compassion and empathy.
